San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was involved in a car accident near downtown Palo Alto, US, four weeks ago.
Shanahan’s Tesla had Autopilot engaged at the time of the accident. Despite the system being active, the coach stated that drivers cannot simply turn over driving to a computer.
It is always your fault, whether you’re on Autopilot or not.
Shanahan described his approach to using the technology as “partnership driving.” He emphasized that drivers cannot take their eyes off the road while using Autopilot.
The coach has used Autopilot for nine years. However, he does not know if the system malfunctioned during the incident or if he accidentally turned it off.
