Data we may process

AI processing of published content

Our articles are drafted with the assistance of AI language models. Where a published article discusses an identifiable person, our editorial pipeline applies pseudonymisation before any model call: personal identifiers (names of individuals, email addresses, phone numbers) are replaced with placeholders, and restored only after the model responds. This applies to every AI provider we use, wherever it is hosted. Article drafting, editorial review and legal review are currently processed by DeepSeek, a provider hosted in China; if DeepSeek is unavailable, article-drafting tasks fall back to Alibaba Cloud Model Studio (Qwen, Singapore region — Alibaba is a Chinese company). China has no EU adequacy decision, so this is a transfer under Chapter V GDPR. Pseudonymisation reduces but does not eliminate it: surrounding context, organisation names and the narrative of an event are still transmitted, and a well-known individual may remain identifiable from that context. See AI Transparency for the full description.
