Wildfires in southwest France have forced tens of thousands from their homes, and many have now been allowed to return as fire crews contain the blazes. Reports differ on whether all or most evacuees have been permitted to go back.
According to some reports, the blazes are the worst in decades, burning an area four times the size of Paris.
One report stated that 84,000 evacuees were allowed to return home on Thursday, while another indicated only more than half of those affected have been permitted to return, suggesting a possible discrepancy in the total number or proportion.
Authorities said the evacuees were forced out by a wildfire in southwest France. Authorities said the blazes are stabilising and under control.
