An armed robbery occurred at night on the D400 highway in the Kösecik neighborhood of Haliliye district, Şanlıurfa, Turkey. The perpetrators wore uniforms of the Turkish Gendarmerie and set up a fake checkpoint.
The targeted vehicle, with license plate 34 DLL 01, carried four individuals: Bahattin D., Ali B., Mehmet A., and Ali M. The assailants fired into the air, stole the items, and stabbed three of the victims—Bahattin D., Mehmet A., and Ali M.
Approximately 13 kilograms of gold and 2 million Turkish lira (TL) in cash were stolen.
The three injured victims were taken to Harran University Hospital in Şanlıurfa, Turkey, and their condition was reported as good. The vehicle was taken by tow truck to a parking lot for further criminal examination.
The suspects were identified within approximately 4 hours. The investigation was conducted by the Haliliye District Gendarmerie Command and the Turkish Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team (JASAT).
Seven suspects were arrested in simultaneous operations in Mardin and Kızıltepe, Turkey. The arrested suspects were taken to the Şanlıurfa Provincial Gendarmerie Command. The investigation is ongoing.
