The death toll from a landslide in southwestern China has risen to 51, with 10 people still missing, authorities reported. The landslide occurred on July 17 in Chongqing's Pengshui County, China.
More than 1,100 residents were safely evacuated from the area, according to local officials. Ten people were rescued, including three who were briefly hospitalized.

Over 1,080 rescue personnel were involved in the search and recovery operation. Rescuers faced challenges including massive boulders, elevation changes, tight spaces, and high temperatures during a 325-hour operation. More than 330,000 cubic metres of material was excavated.
Underwater divers and robots scoured the nearby river, and boulders were blasted away to aid the search. Rescuers had previously warned that there were no longer any signs of life in the area.
Currently 51 people have been found and confirmed dead, and 10 people are still missing.
The disaster occurred less than two weeks after another landslide in northwestern Gansu province, China, which buried 33 people and left 21 dead.
