European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Executive Vice-President Roxana Mînzatu and Commissioner Hadja Lahbib issued a joint statement in Brussels. The declaration came on 1 August 2026, ahead of European Roma Holocaust Memorial Day.
The annual commemoration takes place on 2 August. The three officials released their remarks together to mark the occasion.
