France has recorded 14,000 fire outbreaks since the start of the current season, according to the French Interior Ministry.
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez announced that 402 arrests have been made in connection with fires that were either deliberately set or started accidentally. Among those arrested, 156 were minors.

Wildfires in Var and Gironde
In the Var department, an ongoing blaze has been burning for 15 days. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez stated the fire is the longest wildfire ever recorded in the Var.

A total of 1,250 firefighters remain deployed to battle the blaze in the Var department, supported by two Canadair water bombers and two water-dropping helicopters.
While wildfires in the Gironde and Aude departments were brought under control, the fire alert for Gironde was downgraded from red to orange on Tuesday.
