Israeli forces launched a large-scale raid on the Qalandiya refugee camp and the town of Kafr Aqab, north of occupied Jerusalem, early Wednesday.
WAFA reported that Israeli forces entered the Qalandiya refugee camp with more than 30 military vehicles and 10 bulldozers. The Jerusalem Governorate stated that vehicles carrying equipment, maps, and boxes were sent to the camp for search and raid operations.
During the operation, Israeli forces demolished a car wash facility in the camp using a bulldozer, according to WAFA. Additionally, Israeli forces evacuated the Mansur family home and converted it into a military headquarters.
The Jerusalem Governorate reported that a curfew was imposed in Kafr Aqab and that Israeli forces prevented dawn prayers at all mosques in the Qalandiya refugee camp.
The raid resulted in several incidents of violence and injury. An Israeli military vehicle ran over a young man near the Qalandiya refugee camp, and a journalist named Muhammed Semrin was struck by soldiers. In the town of Ram, a Palestinian was injured by Israeli gunfire. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that its teams treated two people injured during the military attack in the Qalandiya refugee camp and transported them to the hospital.
Israeli forces sent text messages to several residents announcing the start of a large-scale military campaign in the camp. During the raid, forces also arrested the father of Laith al-Shawani, who was killed in the Qalandiya refugee camp in 2018.
