French pole vaulter Marie-Julie Bonnin won the bronze medal in the pole vault at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham.
She cleared 4.70 metres on her second attempt to reach the podium, after successfully clearing 4.45 metres on her second attempt and 4.60 metres on her third attempt. She failed at 4.75 metres and attempted 4.80 and 4.85 metres.
Switzerland’s Angelica Mauser won gold with a clearance of 4.80 metres, the reigning title holder. Finland’s Wilma Heltela took silver with 4.75 metres.
France’s total medal count after four days of competition
Margot Chevrier, returning from a serious ankle injury sustained in 2024, tied for fourth place after clearing 4.60 metres on her first attempt. Bérénice Petit finished seventh with 4.45 metres in her first international competition.
Three French athletes competed in the pole vault final. The event was marked by difficult wind conditions.
