A mass shooting occurred on a Wednesday morning at a residence on Brooks Road in Prospect Hill, North Carolina, US.
The Caswell County Sheriff's Office responded to a call at 352 Brooks Road just before 8:00 AM local time. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) stated the event took place around 8:30 AM local time.
Multiple people were killed in the shooting. At least one person was transported to Duke University Hospital with a gunshot wound.
Caswell County deputies and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene. The Caswell County Sheriff's Office requested assistance from the SBI regarding the shooting.
SBI crime scene investigators are currently at the property processing evidence and conducting interviews. State authorities stated the event was contained to the address and that there is no threat to the general public at this time.
