Elon Musk is planning to invest heavily in the US midterms to boost Republican voter turnout, reviving his dormant super PAC, America PAC. According to his representatives, Musk has declined to specify exactly how much he will spend, though it is expected to be high, possibly hundreds of millions of dollars.
America PAC will focus on door-knocking, digital advertising, and direct mail aimed at turning out the conservative base, according to sources. The group will coordinate with other Republican groups, allowing them to gear their efforts toward TV ads.
"America PAC was an essential partner for our historic GOTV operation in 2024, and their return for 2026 is a huge boost for Republicans across the country," said a source. "We will again outsmart our opponents and ruthlessly execute our mission for the GOP between now and Election Day."
Trump's low approval ratings have put GOP control of the House and Senate in jeopardy in the November 3 elections. Republicans hope their money will offset the political environment favoring Democrats.
Sources report that GOP super PACs and committees have a financial advantage over their Democratic counterparts, with estimates of this advantage ranging from nearly $300 million to over $300 million. This figure reportedly does not include approximately $400 million in Trump's MAGA Inc. super PAC, though these tallies remain subject to varying reporting.
Musk, the world's richest person, has been in talks with Trump's team about how he can help. His effort will be led by his top political adviser, Chris Young. America PAC knocked on more than 10 million doors in 2024 across more than half a dozen swing states.
Musk had a falling out with Trump after a four-month stint leading DOGE, and was reportedly infuriated by the massive spending in Trump's 'big, beautiful bill'. He even floated the idea of starting a third party to work against the GOP. By the end of 2025, Musk was back to contributing to the GOP, including a $10 million check to Kentucky GOP Senate candidate Nate Morris, who eventually dropped out of the race to take a job in the Trump administration.
Musk plans to spend at least $100 million in the US midterms to help Republicans, with spending in at least eight states. He has authorized America PAC to spend $100 million to $120 million for a new field program in the 2026 midterms.
