Myanmar has released the first images of Aung San Suu Kyi since the military coup in 2021. The former leader was detained following the military's ousting of her democratically elected civilian government.

According to a Myanmar government spokesperson, Aung San Suu Kyi was pictured on Monday, August 3, meeting with a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Naypyidaw.

No foreign leader or envoy has publicly met with Aung San Suu Kyi since her detention, which has made her exact health conditions and whereabouts difficult to confirm. It has been reported that she has been kept in solitary confinement for five years.
