A Russian overnight strike near Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, that killed a family of five is believed to have involved a North Korean missile, according to preliminary data cited by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The attack destroyed an ordinary home, Zelenskyy said, adding that further examinations will follow.
Zelenskyy said the overnight Russian attack killed eight people overall. The parents of the children were also killed, but two other children were pulled alive from the rubble, he added.
Russia began firing North Korean KN-23 and KN-24 short-range ballistic missiles at Ukraine toward the end of 2023. The last confirmed Russian use of a North Korean missile in Ukraine was on August 8, 2025. North Korea has provided thousands of troops, millions of artillery shells, and missiles to Russia for the conflict.
In Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region, a Russian attack killed six people and wounded ten, according to regional head Oleksandr Hanzha. In Kyiv, ballistic missiles killed a 31-year-old man and wounded two others, the Ukrainian National Police press service said. More than 56,000 people sheltered in Kyiv's subway stations overnight, according to the Kyiv metro.
In Lviv, a cruise missile attack killed one person and wounded over 30, including children aged 6, 13, and 15, according to Lviv regional head Maksym Kozytskyi. In Ukraine's Poltava region, a drone hit warehouses, killing one person, according to regional head Vitalii Diakivnych. In Kherson, three glide bombs killed a 56-year-old man.
Zelenskyy accused North Korea of supplying Russia with missiles and personnel. He said Ukraine's priority remains securing additional air defense missiles, particularly interceptors for Patriot systems, and ammunition for other Western-supplied systems.
