A 14-year-old child died and another was left in life-threatening condition after a car struck them while they were crossing a road in the central Karesi district of Balıkesir, Turkey.
The accident occurred at the Sanayi 1. Kapı area of Bandırma Caddesi. The vehicle involved was being driven by a person identified as A.O.
Serra U. died at the scene of the accident. Bilge K. sustained serious injuries and was reported to be in life-threatening condition after being hospitalized.
Health teams provided initial first aid to Bilge K. at the scene before transporting the child to Balıkesir Atatürk City Hospital.
Police and health teams were dispatched to the location after the incident was reported. During the scene investigation, traffic was temporarily reduced to one lane.
Traffic flow returned to normal once the investigation teams completed their work at the site.
The driver, A.O., was taken into custody following the collision. An investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
