The Polish Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador, Georgy Mikhno, to Warsaw following a missile strike on Polish territory. The incident occurred on Thursday, July 30, during a large-scale Russian attack on western Ukraine.
The missile, identified as a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile, landed near the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia, approximately 80 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Other reports placed the landing near Lublin, Poland.
The Polish Foreign Ministry handed the Russian ambassador a protest note and described the incident as a hostile action directed against the security of a sovereign state and its citizens.

Military interceptions and missile origins
Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz claimed that two Polish F-16 fighter jets intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea, north of Kolobrzeg. The Il-20 was flying in international airspace without a flight plan and with its transponder turned off, though it did not violate Polish airspace.
Regarding the missile impact, Kosiniak-Kamysz stated it was produced near Moscow in the second quarter of this year. He suggested that the use of newly produced missiles confirms reports that Russian wartime stockpiles have been depleted.
The Russian embassy in Warsaw did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the missile incident.
