Belarusian authorities have issued a warning to Poland regarding a potential terrorist threat on Polish soil. In response, Polish security services are reviewing the information and treating all potential threats with gravity.
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry announced that it held a meeting with Krzysztof Ożanna, Poland’s chargé d’affaires in Belarus, to discuss the matter. The ministry stated it remains prepared to provide Warsaw with additional information if required.
The alleged plot involves an individual currently residing in Poland who has a prior criminal conviction. This person had recently lost both additional legal protections and the right to remain in the country.
Reports indicate the suspect planned an attack targeting the children of a Belarusian activist living in Poland. The motive for the intended attack was reportedly revenge, as the suspect alleged the activist failed to help them maintain a specific legal status.
Official Response from Polish Authorities
Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski commented on the situation, noting that the information was received only a few hours prior and is currently being examined.
Jacek Dobrzyński, a spokesperson for the minister coordinating special services, stated that while he would not comment on specific media reports, Polish services do not downplay any worrying signals.
Dobrzyński further noted that intelligence services typically do not disclose specific activities or actions while investigations are in their early stages.
