The Romanian National Meteorological Directorate has issued a red alert across Romania, effective until Thursday morning, due to an ongoing heatwave.
Temperatures are expected to range between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius. The Romanian National Meteorological Directorate stated that record temperatures could be recorded in August and noted that the heatwave is expected to continue for several days.
Danube River water levels
The Romanian National Water Administration reported that the water flow in the Danube River has dropped to its lowest level in the last 30 years.
Romanian Defense Minister Radu-Dinel Miruta said that a rocky area was controlledly blasted yesterday to balance the flow, resulting in a 2-centimeter increase in the Danube River water level. Miruta stated that the intervention carried part of the ministry's fight against drought and yielded positive results.
