The container ship 'Yanina', owned by FESCO under the Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation Rosatom, sank in the Black Sea following a drone attack.
Rosatom Director General Aleksey Likhachev stated that the 'Yanina' was attacked by two UAVs in the Black Sea.
Likhachev said the ship was carrying civilian products, including construction and decoration materials and frozen food, while operating in international waters.
This attack cannot be interpreted as anything other than piracy and maritime banditry.
Crew rescue operations
All 17 crew members of the 'Yanina' were rescued and are reported to be in good health.
Sixteen crew members were rescued by the ship 'Delphinus', which was under the command of an Egyptian captain.
The final crew member was brought to shore by naval aviation teams belonging to the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

The 'Yanina' is registered to the Port of Vladivostok, Russia, and was operating on a route between India, the United Arab Emirates, and Novorossiysk, Russia.
The 'Yanina' has a carrying capacity of 13,000 tons and measures approximately 140 meters long and 22 meters wide.
Ukrainian State Minister Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that attacks were carried out against the Russian-flagged 'Yanina' as well as three different oil refineries in Russia.
