Russia's defence ministry claimed control of four settlements in eastern Ukraine: Chernihivka in Donetsk region (also referred to by Moscow as Krasnoyarskoye), Mala Slobidka and Mohrytsia in Sumy region, and Yurchenkove in Kharkiv region. The claims could not be independently verified.
Moscow said it struck military facilities across Ukraine and three cargo ships. Ukrainian authorities reported that Russia launched more than 70 missiles and about 280 drones in overnight attacks, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
