Russia struck Ukraine's capital Kyiv with ballistic missiles, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, who said the attack was ongoing and urged residents to take shelter.

Klitschko said on social media that the Russian army had launched a ballistic missile attack on Kyiv. He reported that the attack began at around 01:33 local time and that fires broke out in different districts of the city.

The Kyiv City Military Administration reported that, according to preliminary data, one person was killed and 12 people were injured in Kyiv as a result of the attacks. The administration said search and rescue operations were continuing.
