Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called on US President Donald Trump to avoid possible attacks on Iran, according to a report by Axios.

Citing officials who spoke on condition of anonymity and were familiar with the matter, Axios reported that bin Salman expressed his concerns to Trump about plans for new large-scale attacks on Iran during their meeting.

One of the officials cited by Axios said: 'The Saudis have expressed their concerns and asked for clarity about the plan of action.'

Another official familiar with the meeting claimed that bin Salman advised Trump to de-escalate tensions and avoid launching attacks.

The White House did not comment on the matter.

The Saudi Arabian Embassy in Washington did not comment on the matter.
