The murder trial concerning eight-year-old Fabian is being held at the Rostock Regional Court in Germany. The defendant, 30-year-old Gina H., is accused of murdering the child, who was from Güstrow.
The prosecution alleges that on October 10, 2025, Gina H. stabbed Fabian at a pond near Klein Upahl, approximately 15 kilometers south of Güstrow, and subsequently set the body on fire. Prosecutors suggest the motive is related to Gina H.'s relationship with Fabian's father and its temporary end. The prosecutor also alleges that Gina H. lured Fabian from his mother's apartment in Güstrow on the day of the incident. Investigators suspect Gina H. believed Fabian was an obstacle to her regaining the affection of Fabian's father.
The trial resumed at the Rostock Regional Court following a four-week break. The Thursday session marked the 20th day of the proceedings, which are scheduled to continue on Friday for the 21st day.
Family testimony and courtroom altercation
Gina H.'s younger sister testified during the trial, describing her sister as someone who can be loving but becomes very quick-tempered when things do not go her way. She accused the defendant of lying during their youth to present herself in a better light and seek attention. The sister also testified that during their childhood in Reimershagen, Germany, their single mother fell ill and the children were taken in by their grandparents. She stated she has had no contact with the defendant or their grandparents for a long time, though she maintains contact with their mother, who is described as exhausted due to the trial.

During the verbal altercation, the presiding judge Holger Schütt admonished both the defendant and her sister. The defendant's grandfather will not testify as he exercised his right to refuse testimony.
BKA communication analysis
The German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) presented a communication analysis during the trial. A BKA case analyst described Gina H. as egocentric, jealous, and controlling, with a high need for attention and recognition. BKA experts concluded that Gina H. showed 'still constantly egocentric behavior' in her messages to Fabian's father, even while the boy was missing.
BKA analysts noted a deviation in Gina H.'s behavior on the day Fabian disappeared, stating she conducted a very intensive questioning of the father regarding his concerns. Furthermore, BKA experts found that Gina H. downplayed the child's disappearance to an acquaintance, suggesting Fabian 'will surely have his reasons for being away.'
Investigation updates
The court has ordered a further investigation of a knife found at the home of a neighbor who is a friend of Gina H. An initial investigation of the knife yielded no traces of Gina H. or Fabian.
A defense attorney stated that Gina H. intends to comment on certain details of the trial on the following court day.
