At least six people were killed and 34 people were injured in a collision involving a bus and a camper on the Terni–Rieti state road near the border of the Umbria and Lazio regions in central Italy. The crash occurred on a Sunday evening.
The collision also involved three passenger cars. Italian media reported that the camper crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the bus, leaving the camper completely destroyed.
The injured were hospitalized in Terni, Perugia, Spoleto, Foligno, and Rieti.

Emergency response and casualties
The shuttle bus was transporting tourists from Marmore Falls, a tourist attraction in the area. Stefania Proietti, the President of the Umbria region, described the crash as a “catastrophic” mass-casualty emergency.
Proietti stated that the regional emergency protocol was activated immediately following the first emergency call to the 118 service in Umbria. Because the accident occurred within the borders of Umbria, civil protection coordination was activated. The Lazio regional health system assisted in the rescue operation.
The President of the Umbria region thanked the police for their work at the scene but declined to comment on the circumstances of the accident.
Investigation and road safety
The State Prosecutor's Office in Terni has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident and potential liability.
Data from the traffic safety association ASAPS indicates that at least 31 people died on Italian roads between Friday and Sunday.
