The Republic of Korea Navy conducted its first mine-sweeping exercise utilizing artificial intelligence assistance. The drill took place at a military naval base in Busan, South Korea.
The exercise followed a scenario in which Busan was blockaded with enemy mines. To manage the operation, an AI system guided the mission by analyzing air and sea conditions.
The operation combined several technologies, including a manned mine-sweeping ship, spy unmanned aerial vehicles, two unmanned surface vessels, and one autonomous underwater vehicle.
The exercise showed these technologies would be effective for future operations.
Yonhap News Agency reported on the exercise, citing a statement from the Republic of Korea Navy.
