Syrian President Ahmed Shara stated that the removal of the old regime was necessary not only for Syria but for the entire region. In an interview with the Qatar-based Al Jazeera television, Shara described Syria as a key country in the region.
Shara stated that he began organizing efforts to overthrow the regime from within Damascus, noting that he benefited from all experiences during that process. He also stated that they received no foreign support during these efforts.
Regarding the country's current state, Shara said that despite being under siege and intense pressure, they gave necessary importance to both war and reconstruction and the economy at the same time. He noted that while focusing on the military dimension in the fight against the deposed regime, they also carried out preparations for the reconstruction process.

Shara stated that his sense of belonging to the Golan Heights was shaped by discourses expressed within his family and society since his childhood. He also noted being influenced by Arab nationalist discourses addressing the issues of Arab peoples, mentioning common points between this discourse and Islamic discourse.

Shara emphasized the need to distinguish between Islam and the different Islamic experiences that have emerged throughout history. He also stated that Syria is built upon a diversity it has possessed for 7,000 years.
International Communication
Shara stated that they prioritize communicating the work carried out in Idlib and regions under the control of former opposition members to the international community. He said they utilize media organizations and delegations visiting the region to communicate the work in Idlib and former opposition-controlled areas to the international community.
