Three people died following an accident on the A3 motorway in the Upper Palatinate region of Germany after their vehicle veered off the roadway and onto a railway line near Nittendorf, in the Regensburg district.
The vehicle did not collide with a train. Initial findings suggest the car veered to the right of the road around 7:00 AM without being involved with another vehicle.
The Regensburg-Nürnberg railway line is completely closed due to recovery work, which is expected to take a long time. An accident analysis expert is traveling to the site, according to the police.
Traffic disruptions
The A3 motorway crossing the tracks is also closed in the direction of Nuremberg. A police spokesperson said traffic is backing up during rush hour, leading officials to direct vehicles out at the Sinzing exit.
