Turkey's Law No. 7574, amending the Highway Traffic Code, came into effect on February 27, 2026, introducing stricter penalties for aggressive driving behaviors. The law was published in the country's Official Gazette on that date.
According to data from the police responsibility area, the number of recorded intentional injury, threat, and insult incidents decreased from 4,806 between February 27 and July 28, 2025 to 2,328 during the same period in 2026. That is a drop of 2,478 cases, or 51.6%.

Under the new law, drivers who persistently follow another vehicle or exit their vehicle with the intent to attack face a 180,000 Turkish lira administrative fine, a 30-day vehicle impoundment, and a 60-day driver's license suspension.
Turkey's Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, after traffic violence videos were made public, prioritized the issue and ordered swift intervention, according to reports.
Authorities stated that enforcement against aggressive behaviors endangering drivers and passengers will continue uninterruptedly in all 81 provinces of Turkey.
