US President Donald Trump has played down his own claims of Chinese election interference in US elections, saying it is "not a one-way street" and that "we do things to them, too."

Trump said he would talk to China about the election interference, which he described as having taken place "a long time ago." He added that China "is maybe a little bit different today than it was then."
The president also claimed that China had collected 220 million US voter registration files.
