Türkiye's National Security Council (MGK) met at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, Türkiye, under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The meeting lasted approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. Following the session, the Council issued an 8-item statement.
Regional security and conflict zones
Regarding the tensions between the United States and Iran, the MGK called on all parties to refrain from the use of force and return to negotiations to establish lasting peace. The Council warned that renewed fighting between the two nations could spread to regional countries and disrupt global trade routes.
Addressing the Russia-Ukraine War, the Council emphasized that the strategic deadlock cannot be overcome if neighboring regions, particularly the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, become conflict zones.
The MGK also highlighted the importance of multi-dimensional cooperation with neighbors Syria and Iraq for regional security, peace, and prosperity.
Gaza and Palestine
The Council noted that despite progress within the Gaza Peace Plan framework, the Israeli administration continues ceasefire violations and escalates settler terrorism in Palestinian territories.
The MGK stated that the international community should take a 'clear and uncompromising stance' against attacks targeting holy sites in Palestine.
Internal security and alliance matters
The Council reviewed progress toward the goals of a 'Terror-Free Türkiye' and a 'terror-free region'. It also evaluated the current status of the fight against FETÖ on the tenth anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt.
Regarding international organizations, the MGK noted that the NATO Summit hosted by Türkiye served as a critical threshold for the future of the alliance.
