Ukrainian drone strikes on Sunday targeted military, energy, and civilian infrastructure sites deep inside Russia, killing at least eight people overnight, according to reports.
Russia's Defense Ministry said its forces downed 635 drones during the attacks.

In the city of Engels on the Volga River, two people died when drones hit residential buildings. An apartment complex in Saratov City was also damaged.
Local officials reported three people killed and two injured in the Udmurtia region, which lies about 1,300 kilometers from Ukraine, and another three killed and five injured in Belgorod.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv had targeted an oil refinery in Saratov and a military base in Engels that hosts Russian long-range bombers. He thanked Ukrainian forces for taking the war "back to where it came from."

Kyiv said fires had damaged both the Saratov oil refinery and the Engels military base, and that its forces had also struck an oil depot in the western Kaluga region. Unverified video on social media purported to show fires burning at the Saratov oil facility.
Ukraine also targeted the online retailer Wildberries, striking a logistics warehouse in Samara, more than 800 kilometers from Ukraine's front-line positions. Kyiv says Wildberries aids Russia's military and has attacked nearly a dozen of its warehouses since July 18. Local management said a fire at the Samara site was brought under control with no casualties.
