The United States has requested the extradition of Apollo Carreon Quiboloy from the Philippine government. The request was sent to the Department of Justice in Manila through the Philippine Foreign Affairs Department in July.
Quiboloy is the leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, a church founded in 1985 in southern Davao City, Philippines, which maintains branches in the United States.
In 2021, US federal prosecutors announced an indictment against Quiboloy for allegedly having sex with women and underage girls under threat of abuse and 'eternal damnation'.
A US federal grand jury unsealed a superseding indictment in November 2021 naming Quiboloy and eight others. The indictment included charges of conspiracy, sex trafficking of children, sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion, marriage fraud, money laundering, cash smuggling, and visa fraud.

In 2024, Quiboloy went into hiding after a Philippine court ordered his arrest for alleged child and sexual abuse and human trafficking. The Philippine Senate also ordered his arrest for refusing to appear in public hearings regarding the alleged crimes.
In September 2024, Quiboloy and four others surrendered following a raid by approximately 2,000 police on a 30-hectare compound.
The extradition request requires the approval of two Philippine courts. Under the 1994 extradition treaty between the US and the Philippines, Philippine justice officials can petition a domestic court for the temporary surrender of a suspect to a foreign court. However, the legal framework in the Philippines dictates that trials must conclude and sentences be served before extradition can occur.

Quiboloy, 76, was once an influential adviser to former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.
Quiboloy has claimed to be 'the appointed son of God.' Following the 2021 indictment, he was placed on the FBI's most wanted list and was among the FBI's 10 most wanted fugitives.
