Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told former President Donald Trump and a group of US senators that Ukraine requires anti-ballistic systems and missiles to defend against Russian attacks.
Zelensky met with senators at the Capitol on Tuesday and pressed his case for additional US support, specifically for anti-ballistic missiles, according to reports.
During the meeting, Zelensky also emphasized Ukraine's gains in the war against Russia, underscoring the progress made by Ukrainian forces.
The discussions came shortly before senators voted to advance legislation that would further sanction Russia and impose steep tariffs on other countries.
