· date approximate Background
Mass irregular migration entry into the Ceuta Spanish enclave.
Reports indicated that around 60,000 irregular migrants breached the border and entered the Ceuta Spanish enclave in North Africa. Following this influx, the Spanish interior ministry stated that nearly all of those who crossed since a Wednesday had left the area, bringing the situation back toward normalcy.
The European Commission President noted that the vast majority of the migrants who arrived illegally in Ceuta returned to Morocco. This return was attributed to the effective cooperation and work of Spanish and Moroccan law enforcement. Additionally, figures from Spain's Interior Ministry suggested that nearly 70,000 migrants who entered from Morocco had already been returned.
