The OCC approved Circle's application to establish a national trust bank.
In early July, the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) approved an application by Circle to establish a national trust bank. This authorization allows the company to provide fiduciary and custody services for digital assets while specifically excluding activities such as making loans or accepting consumer deposits.
The establishment of this national bank was intended to enhance the safety and regulatory oversight of the USDC reserve. This move aims to enable Circle to offer specialized fiduciary digital asset custody and related services tailored for institutional customers.
