The Alien Terrorist Removal Court was created by the US government.
Congress established the Alien Terrorist Removal Court in 1996 as a five-judge court. It was designed for cases where ordinary immigration proceedings could expose classified information and threaten national security, according to reports.
The court did not receive its first petition until 2025, nearly three decades after its creation. In that year, the Justice Department filed the first application under the law, seeking to remove a noncitizen using classified evidence.
