David Hearn was charged with felony destruction of property.
In early July, 67-year-old former US Olympian and canoeist David Hearn was charged with felony destruction of property. The charges were linked to allegations that he 'violently' ripped up part of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool's liner with his bare hands.
The prosecution followed claims made by President Donald Trump, who stated that vandals had caused a large gash along the bottom of the pool. While Hearn’s attorneys argued he was being used as a scapegoat for renovation issues, federal prosecutors eventually moved to dismiss the indictment against him.
