Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has expressed confidence that new signing Morgan Rogers will form a strong partnership with Cole Palmer, following the club's record £117 million ($156 million) acquisition of the 24-year-old from Aston Villa.

I have a plan. I have an idea. I can see them linking really well.
— Xabi Alonso, Chelsea manager

Alonso, 44, added that Rogers, who is currently on holiday after playing for England at the World Cup, "won't need much time to adapt" and will make an "instant impact" at the club. The manager also highlighted Rogers' versatility as a key asset.

Rogers, a close friend and England teammate of Palmer, signed a six-year contract with Chelsea that reportedly runs until 2033. The transfer makes him the most expensive British player of all time.
