AMD has submitted a new batch of AMDGPU patches to the Linux Kernel mailing list, laying the foundation for Display Core Next 6 (DCN6), the display engine expected to power upcoming AMD RDNA 5 graphics chips.
The patches introduce initial support for DCN6, which is tied to the GFX13 graphics engine architecture, corresponding to AMD's next-generation RDNA 5 architecture.
Display Core Next is AMD's display engine responsible for handling display output and monitor connectivity. The current patches do not yet reveal performance improvements or specific display capabilities.
More patches are anticipated in the coming months to detail display functionality, power management, and multimedia support for RDNA 5.
