Apple is preparing for a major iPhone event in September to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a new foldable iPhone. Employees have been told that the event will take place during the first half of September.
The launch date is expected to be September 9, though some reports suggest it could fall on Tuesday, September 8, based on past calendars. If the event is held on September 9, pre-orders are expected to start on September 11 or 12, with sales beginning on September 18, though Apple has not officially confirmed these dates.
IPhone 18 Pro and Foldable Developments
The iPhone 18 Pro Max will feature the same specifications as the iPhone 18 Pro but in a larger size. Due to a larger battery, the iPhone 18 Pro Max may be slightly thicker than both the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the iPhone 18 Pro.
The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to include a new generation A20 Pro processor, a smaller Dynamic Island, and a new wide-angle camera with variable aperture. A 'Dark Cherry' special color option may also be available for the model.
Expected price range for the foldable iPhone
A new foldable iPhone is expected to feature a 5.5-inch screen when closed and a 7.8-inch screen when open. It is rumored to use an A20 processor with a 2 nm manufacturing process. The device is expected to include dual batteries and a rear camera system limited to two lenses. Due to a thin design for the TrueDepth camera system, the foldable iPhone may use Touch ID instead of Face ID.
The foldable iPhone may be released after the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max due to reported production issues.
Pricing and Product Lineup Updates
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may be priced $100 to $200 more expensive than the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. While Apple has increased prices for Mac and iPad in the US, Turkey, and other countries, iPhone prices have not yet been increased.
The standard iPhone 18 model will not be introduced this year. Instead, the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 are expected to be released in the spring of 2027.
Apple Watch and AI Features
Apple is expected to introduce new Apple Watch models at the September event. The Apple Watch Ultra 4 is expected to be thinner with improved sensing functions, receiving the same chip upgrade as the Apple Watch Series 12. No new model is anticipated for the Apple Watch SE this year.
Siri-based AI features for some products may be delayed to a later event.
