Apple is introducing a new feature called 'Captured by Me' to the Photos app as part of the iOS 27 update.
The 'Captured by Me' feature is designed to gather only photos and videos taken directly through the iPhone's Camera app. This functionality excludes screenshots, media from WhatsApp or other applications, and images downloaded from the internet.
The Photos app previously utilized a 'Camera Roll' structure similar to the current 'Recents' album, which included both taken and saved images.
Users can use 'Captured by Me' as a filtering option within the main Photos library.
IOS 27 Release and Improvements
IOS 27 is currently in a testing phase. A stable version of the operating system is expected to be released to iPhones this coming September.
In addition to the new filtering feature, Apple is making improvements to areas such as slideshows and shared albums within the iOS 27 update.
