General Motors is reportedly developing a next-generation Chevrolet Equinox EV, expected to arrive as a 2029 model year, likely in late 2028 or early 2029. The new model will transition to GM's BEV-N platform.
The current Equinox EV, introduced in 2022 and on sale since early 2024. In 2025, it was the best-selling electric vehicle from a non-Tesla manufacturer in the United States, ranking third overall behind the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y.
However, sales momentum has slowed. In the first half of 2026, Chevrolet sold 16,249 Equinox EV units, a 41% drop compared to the same period in 2025. The $7,500 federal tax credit expired in September 2025.
The Equinox EV's EPA-estimated range is up to 319 miles for front-wheel-drive models and 307 miles for all-wheel-drive, with a starting price of $34,995. All 2027 models will include a North American Charging Standard (NACS) charge port.

GM's BEV3 platform, which underpins the current Equinox EV, is shared across several models including the Chevrolet Blazer EV, Cadillac Lyriq, Cadillac Optiq, Cadillac Vistiq, Cadillac Celestiq, Honda Prologue, and Acura ZDX. In contrast, GM sold 274,356 gasoline-powered Chevrolet Equinox models in 2025.
