Cloudflare, a US cloud infrastructure company, has introduced Cloudflare Wallets, which are programmable wallets designed for artificial intelligence (AI) agents.

The wallets are intended to allow users to store stablecoins, receive funds, and purchase services across the web. Cloudflare aims to support stablecoin micropayments to facilitate what the company describes as “agentic commerce.”

Wallet types and agent integration

The system consists of two types: Account Wallets and Virtual Wallets. Account Wallets are designed for human owners and Cloudflare account users to add, delegate, or remove funds. Virtual Wallets are designed for agents and operate via API keys, with spending limits capped by the Account Wallet owner.

Cloudflare Wallets will be added to the Cloudflare Agents SDK.

Monetization and payments

Cloudflare plans to integrate these wallets with the Monetization Gateway, which utilizes the x402 protocol to enable micropayments. The Monetization Gateway uses Coinbase's x402 protocol.

Users can immediately claim a Cloudflare Wallet handle for their account to serve as a unique username for connecting with merchants. Payment features using stablecoins for the wallets are scheduled to launch in a future update.
