Marc Cucurella has followed through on his promise to get a tattoo of Spain coach Luis de la Fuente after Spain won the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The defender showed the result on Instagram with the caption "Promise fulfilled."
Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in the final on July 19, after a tournament that included a 0-0 draw against Cape Verde in the opening match. Cucurella started all eight World Cup matches and kept seven clean sheets.
Cucurella started every World Cup game for Spain.
The tattoo on his left arm shows Luis de la Fuente holding the World Cup trophy. The ink was done by artist Joaquín Ganga from Murcia, Spain, who has worked with LeBron James, Drake, and Canelo Álvarez.
Cucurella was 28 at the time of the tattoo and was named in the World Cup's symbolic starting lineup. During the tournament, he carried his wife's pyjama top as a lucky charm.

Despite his comment, Cucurella kept his word. Coach Luis de la Fuente had earlier said he expected Cucurella to honor the promise. There is some disagreement among sources about Cucurella's club: some say he plays for Chelsea, others for Real Madrid.
