The Fritzbox 5630 is now available at retailers.
Fritz describes the Fritzbox 5630 as a “powerful basic model” for fiber optic connections.
The device features an integrated modem that supports 2.5 Gbit/s Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) and 1 Gbit/s Active Optical Network (AON).
Connectivity and Wi-Fi standards
The router supports the Wi-Fi 7 standard, though it does not support the 6-GHz band. It utilizes two MIMO streams per band.
On the 5-GHz band, the router can achieve a calculated speed of up to 2880 Mbit/s, while the 2.4-GHz WLAN has a peak speed of 688 Mbit/s.
Hardware connections include a 2.5-Gbit/s Ethernet port that can function as a WAN port, alongside three additional Ethernet ports that transmit 1 Gbit/s each. The device also includes a USB-A port (USB 3.2 Gen 1, 5 Gbit/s) for connecting devices such as NAS hard drives or printers.
The Fritzbox 5630 supports DECT telephony and Smart-Home functions via FritzOS.
Pricing and model comparisons
The manufacturer's recommended retail price (UVP) for the Fritzbox 5630 is 289 Euro, though S2 reports the price as 290 Euro. Some shops are selling the model for 20 Euro less than the recommended retail price.
Other models in the lineup include the Fritzbox 5690. The Fritzbox 5690 features an additional 2.5-Gbit/s connection and is twice as fast in the 5-GHz network due to four MIMO streams.
