Google announced it is making sharing between Android devices easier with a new tap-to-share feature built into Quick Share, its wireless sharing tool similar to Apple's AirDrop.
Eligible Android devices can now use Quick Share to tap and send contact info, photos, videos, and more.
According to Google, to share contact info from the home screen, users bring two compatible Android devices close together for an instant, two-way exchange.

For photos or videos, users open the phone's Share Sheet and tap the two devices together. The feature is rolling out now to Pixel 6 and newer devices, and it will soon arrive on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8, and Flip 8.
Google says it will expand Quick Share to more Android devices by the end of the year. According to Google, the update was announced alongside its Pixel 11 product launches on Wednesday.

Tap to Share is an extension of Quick Share, and Google described it as a modern take on the old Android Beam feature. It was announced with the Pixel 11 series but is rolling out to Pixel 6 and newer devices.
The feature is similar to Apple's NameDrop introduced in iOS 17, which lets iPhone users share contacts, photos, or videos by touching phones. According to Google, Quick Share added AirDrop support in the Pixel 10 generation in late 2025, with more devices slated to add the Apple option earlier this year.
