Google has introduced the ability for users to log in by recording a short selfie video, the company announced.
The company stated that the feature is designed for account recovery scenarios, such as when a user forgets their password, loses access to their phone or computer, or cannot use two-factor authentication applications.
The new login method allows users to verify their identity on both mobile devices and PCs. To prevent deepfake impersonation, Google requires users to move their head from side to side during the video capture process.
The new login method requires users to rotate their heads side to side to ensure they are not a deepfake. Additionally, the captured selfie videos will support functionalities for AI Avatars and identity age verification.
