The sports court of the German Football Association (DFB) has sentenced the German second-division club Hannover 96 to pay €230,400 due to fan misbehavior during the Lower Saxony derby against Eintracht Braunschweig. Supporters from both 2. Bundesliga clubs set off massive pyrotechnics during the match on March 20, which forced an interruption of more than ten minutes.
Of the €230,400 fine, up to €76,800 may be used for security-related or violence-prevention measures.
Hannover 96 was also issued a €151,800 fine for similar incidents during an away match at 1. FC Magdeburg on January 30. Up to €50,600 of this fine may be allocated to security-related measures.

Previous penalties and legal status
Eintracht Braunschweig previously accepted a fine of €118,200 following the use of massive pyrotechnics during the March 20 derby match. Both recent rulings against Hannover 96 are not yet legally binding, as the club has the option to lodge an appeal.
