Honda is considering a new model internally called the 'Accord SUV,' a lifted hatchback or crossover, according to multiple reports.
The vehicle would be built at Honda's plant in Marysville, Ohio, and would share the next-generation Accord sedan's long-wheelbase platform, but with larger wheels, increased ground clearance, and a more practical cargo area, reports indicate.
Production is expected around mid-2029, though some sources point to a 2029 launch, and the SUV could arrive as a 2030 model alongside the redesigned Accord sedan, which is slated for 2030.
The 'Accord SUV' would feature Honda's next-generation hybrid powertrain with a new direct-drive motor, generator motor, and battery. Honda has announced plans to offer 15 hybrid models globally by 2030, and the Accord is expected to become hybrid-only by 2031.
The revived model is reportedly targeting buyers of the Subaru Outback. Edmunds analyst Ivan Drury noted that the Outback was the top vehicle purchased by customers leaving Honda between 2020 and 2025.
Honda's statement directly denies the reports, but speculation continues as the company moves toward an expanded hybrid lineup and a next-generation Accord.
