MG has opened pre-sales for its new electric fastback sedan, the MG 07, in China, and the model has already attracted significant early interest.

The MG 07 received more than 21,000 pre-orders within the first 20 hours after the pre-sale opened, according to an announcement made on July 30.

21,000+ pre-orders

MG 07 received over 21,000 pre-orders in its first 20 hours of pre-sale in China.

MG officials stated that the order pace for the MG 07 doubled the demand for the MG4 Urban over the same period. The MG 07 went on pre-sale in China on July 29, and the pre-order figure covers reservations only, not completed sales or delivered vehicles.

Mass production of the MG 07 began at SAIC's plant in Zhengzhou, China, and the first mass-produced unit rolled off the line there in early July, before the pre-sale started.

The MG 07 is initially offered with five different equipment options. The base version features a 500V architecture, while upper versions come with an 800V architecture.

The fastback design provides a 697-liter rear trunk and a 168-liter front trunk (frunk). Upper trim packages include a roof-integrated LiDAR sensor, which runs on Momenta's R7 world model and X7 processor chip. The driver-assist system provides highway autonomous driving (NOA) and automatic parking assistance.

The starting price of the MG 07 in China is 125,900 yuan (approximately $18,600). Before the pre-sale, the vehicle was displayed at many dealerships across China.
