Mojang has announced that Minecraft will be released for the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Minecraft will default to supporting the Vibrant Visuals mode, which provides enhanced graphics. This mode includes technical features such as improved shadows, volumetric fog effects, and directional lighting.
The Super Mario Mash-Up pack, which is exclusive to Nintendo platforms, will also receive the visual update. However, the Vibrant Visuals mode will be unavailable during split-screen play, in certain game modes, and in some Marketplace worlds.
Upgrade path and peripheral support
Players who already own the current Nintendo Switch version of Minecraft will be offered an upgrade path. Details regarding the upgrade process for these current owners are expected to be shared in the coming days.
Mojang has not yet made an announcement regarding whether the Switch 2 version will offer mouse control support for Joy-Con 2.
Minecraft Dungeons II release
Minecraft Dungeons II, a new spin-off in the series, is scheduled for release on September 29 for PC and consoles. The game will be playable on both the current Nintendo Switch and the new Nintendo Switch 2 consoles.
